New WowWee Alive Pets - Press Release

The WowWee Robotics Alive range, released in 2008, capture the technology of Hollywood-Style animatronics and captured our hearts over Christmas selling "over a million worldwide", says Graham Spark, Marketing Director.

The range will be a major focus for the firm this year with an extended line-up
Four new large pets will be available in the Autumn – the WowWee Alive Seal Pup, Husky Puppy, Koala Joey, and Leopard Cub. Each features animated facial and vocal expressions triggered by users' touch and comes with adoption papers and a family portrait. Other products included in the WowWee Alive line are adorable, 8-inch WowWee Alive™ Minis, complete with a feeding bottle the cubs can sense. These WowWee Alive Minis feature touch and tilt sensors triggering soft endearing sounds from snoring to gurgling that indicate the cubs’ various moods.

WowWee has also unveiled a new line of pajama pals, the WowWee Alive™ Sleeping Cuties™ pets. These adorable sleepy pets are perfect to cuddle up with for a nap. Featuring lifelike fur, a poseable head, and their very own blankets, the WowWee Alive Sleeping Cuties pets make gentle slumbering sounds, have animated eyes, and curl up into a cozy, napping position when you pet them. The WowWee Alive Sleeping Cuties pets come in four varieties: Labradoodle Puppy, Beagle Puppy, Cinnamon Persian Kitten, and White Persian Kitten.

The robotic animal sector is currently dominated by Hasbro's FurReal line, but Spark believes WowWee can compete and actually has a superior product. "We feel there is room for a good strong number two," adds Spark. "We're probably more expensive but the quality of the plush is better and there's the whole tactile side to it."

The plan is to link the WowWee Alive brand up with a conservation group. Each animal will donate a percentage of its profits to an endagered animal. A TV campaign will run from August through to November.

Electronic Pet Shop is the only online store in the UK where you can choose from all four Alive Cubs - Lion, White Tiger, Panda and Polar Bear. The high realism of the cubs is what makes them so lovable. Intricate details such as a backbone and blinking eyes make it very easy to believe that you have a real endangered cub in your arms.

Spring is Here.. Finally!

The snow has cleared and all the bad weather seems to have evaporated into blue skies and new seedlings. There's still a little nip in the air but what does it all mean? It means spring is finally here after what feels like a year of gloom.
To celebrate the first day of Spring and the oncoming Easter celebrations Electronic Pet Shop has started an Easter Section of all our Springtime Electronic Pets. Electronic animals are much less fattening than chocolate, so perfect as present for Easter.
Do you know someone who loves plants? Why not get them an Electronic Plant. A hassle free way to make a tribute to greenery; the Flip Flap uses only solar power to move. The flip flap is an attractive plant in various pot colours that requires no water or batteries. Simply sit it on your windowsill and watch it flap merrily away.

If you'd like a more complicated potted plant why not adopt a Pekoppa? Pekoppa is a plant imported from Japan that responds to your voice with silent nods of aggreement. Telling your problems to a plant may seem like madness but can be a theraputic way to get rid of your worries.

RSPB birds are a great way to learn about the different birdcalls. I never knew what a Hoopoe sounded like but now I can instantly tell if I hear one. Hoopoes are very rare in this country though, so it isn't very often! There are loads of different birds to collect and each one comes with information about the bird. You can even buy a nest to hold your birds, perfect for the bird lover.

For a more realistic bird, you can now adopt the Sega Toys Cockatoo or Canary. New in from Japan, the lifelike bird will open its beak and call when you pet its back. The Sega Toys birds are a perfect touch of nature for the modern household.

Electronic Pet Shop has a wide range of FurReal Friends Newborns. The FurReal Friends pets are lifelike animals that respond in various ways when they are stroked. New in are the Springtime Honey Bear, Dalmatian, Piglet, Chipmunk and Chimp. Perfect to keep the kids entertained or for the collector.

Get ready for some fun in Spring! You can even personalise your new animals with a free adoption package that includes a keyring with the owner's and pet's name, factsheet and collectable badge.

Pekoppa the Japanese Healing Plant!

It's a common theory that the household plant loves to listen to you talk. There have been many investigations into the theory and while results have come back saying that it aids in growth.... there is no actual hard evidence. Until now.

The Sega Toys Pekoppa is a potted electronic plant imported from Japan. In today's busy, frustrating and fast-paced society, sometimes we just need someone to lend an ear to us. Plants don't answer back, interrupt or judge you. The Little Healing Pot Plant is always there for you. It'll respond to your voice with lifelike leaf and stem movements as it bends, sways and nods, reacting to your voice. If real plants could move, this is exactly how they'd do it!
Pekoppa was developed with the help of a Dr. Tomio Watanabe in Japan. At first glance, the little pot plant looks real. However inside its stem lurks cutting edge technology in the form of high-tech material. The "muscle wires" become stiff to extend and contract silently when electrical currents are passed through them, creating fluid, lifelike movement.

Pekoppa aids with relaxation, de-stressing, expressing feelings and sharing secrets or worries. Speak to it whenever you want, and it'll respond with a mixture of casual and hearty nods offering agreement, comfort or sympathy depending on your voice tone. The more you talk to it, the more it seems to understand you.

We're not suggesting you should throw away all your household plants yet, but lets face it - when was the last time your Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant) really gave you any feedback on all your hard work? What's more, the Pekoppa makes a great easter gift for the green fingered wannabee!

FurReal Biscuit wins Girls Toy of the Year Award

Experiencing the hype over Christmas it's not much of a surprise that the FurReal Friends Biscuit My Lovin' Pup won the girl's toy of year award. Biscuit, the animatronic dog, was following in hoof-steps of Butterscotch the Pony, which was the TRA's Innovative Toy of the Year for 2006.
We have found that as much as electronics and robotics are exciting for boys, they only need to be converted in plush to be made appealing to girls. The FurReal range is especially appealing to girls at allows them to own dream pets. Butterscotch and Biscuit both have another thing in common - the scale to start creating real excitement.

The brand managers for Girls Toys at Hasbro commented "Hasbro are delighted with the TRA Award for FurReal Biscuit, My Lovin' Pup. The award is a testament to Hasbro's innovative toy development. 2009 will continue to see the brand evolve with the introduction of Zambi The Baby Elephant and Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitty from FurReal."

The FurReal Biscuit Dog will be making a national comeback at Christmas 2009. In the meantime, they can be found in the Dog Pound at Electronic Pet Shop.

Facebank Japanese money box

Every so often, a new pet comes along that is as weird as it is wonderful. Forget Facebook, meet Facebank, the japanese imported moneybox which loves to chew on your loose change.
On first appearence the Face bank may look like what nightmares are made of. A thin latex skin stretched over a number of electronic muscles which moves when it gets a whiff of a coin. The monkey like face on a wall may seem creepy at first, but once you've become accustomed to it it becomes irresistible and is a sure way of helping you save money. You've got to admire how realistic the chewing is and at around 10cm high it makes a perfect companion for your desk top.

Facebank comes in a range of colours and makes for a very unique present for lovers of the bazarre. The Facebank is of course harmless and will not try to attack you when you're asleep. It can be found in the Side Alley at Electronic Pet Shop or Here.
