Peanut, Dotty and Charlie - New AniMagic Pets

Following the success of Honey my Baby Pony, Vivid Imaginations will be releasing a similar set of household pets at the end of June.

The new range of interactive plush pets is called AniMagic, a range of animals that respond to touch. For dog lovers, there's Peanut My Playful Pup and Dotty my Playful Pup Dalmatian. They each come with their own bone which can be put in their mouth to hear them chomp and bark. Stroking their head will make them move and wag their tail.
If you're more of a cat person, they are also introducing Charlie My Cute Kitten to the collection. Feed Charlie her bottle to hear her slurp and rub her back to see her move her paws, meow and look around.

The range will be released at £44.99 and are suitable for ages 3 and up. Very soon you'll be able to adopt your own at Electronic Pet Shop.

RSPB Bird Collection with Real Birdcalls!

Electronic Pet Shop now stocks the full range of Electronic RSBP Bird Toys from every series.

Each cuddly bird can be squeezed to activate a genuine recording of the bird's birdcall. Collect all of the birds and in no time you can learn all of the birdcalls. Never again will you have to experience that feeling of utter embarrassment when you got that cuckoo mixed up with a bullfinch.

The RSPB Plush birds are produced by Wild Republic and the RSPB so that every time you adopt a bird from Electronic Pet Shop, a donation is given to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds to help endangered species. Each bird comes with its own little booklet so you can educate yourself or a loved one about the new bird in your life. The birds are a perfect gift for bird lovers or anyone that's ever seen a bird and wondered what it was.

The sharpest of you may have noticed a bee in the picture above. Don't worry, we know a bee isn't a bird. The RSPB have also released 7 insects with real buzz. The bugzzz come with their own little booklet and a percentage of the profits are also donated to charity. Even sharper viewers may be able to spot a monkey. We have no explanation for this.

Excited? Well, for any collectors out there we also stock the RSPB bird nest, perfect for anyone wanting to show off your new birds. And you know what they say about the early bird... better get yours now!

Sega Toys reported in January that, in just three months, it had sold 50,000 units of the Pekoppa. Pekoppa was developed with the help of a Dr. Tomio Watanabe in Japan and is becoming a valued asset of the Japanese household. Possible Extinction for Pleo?

For a short time only, Pleo is available at Electronic Pet Shop for just £179.99 with Free UK delivery.
This month UGoBe Inc, the company that produces Pleo, filed for bankruptcy meaning Pleo the Camarasuarus may go the same way that all the other dinosaurs did…

Pleo the dinosaur is one of the most interactive and lifelike robotic pets available. The baby dinosaur has drew many fans since UGoBe was founded in 2003 by Caleb Chung, the creator of Furby. While Furby sold over 50 million units, the £200 price point proved to be a little too high for Pleo.

UGoBe generated around $19.2 million in 2008 but it sharply dropped in the first three months of 2009. The robotic dinosaur ages to have different personalities and can interact with people through their 38 sensors. Pleo barks, shakes and generally responds like a real pet. With over 200 parts, it is by far the most complicated robotic pet currently available for under £200. The lifelike skin and autonomous behaviour makes it one of the first robots to compete with the likes of the Sony Aibo at a fraction of the price.

After floods of press coverage, Pleo was supposed to be released in 2006 but was delayed due to power problems. After delays, it took an extra year for Pleo to be on general distribution.

After a number of departures in UGoBe and suppliers suing the company for money, it filed for Bankruptcy earlier last month. Chung, who owns around 5% of UGoBe, has moved on and taken over as director of a School in Idaho.

What does all this mean for Pleo? Unless a toy supplier takes over the manufacturer of Pleo, it will stop being produced. Thanks to the recession, Pleo the baby dinosaur will be very diffult to get hold of soon.
