Each cuddly bird can be squeezed to activate a genuine recording of the bird's birdcall. Collect all of the birds and in no time you can learn all of the birdcalls. Never again will you have to experience that feeling of utter embarrassment when you got that cuckoo mixed up with a bullfinch.

Each bird comes with its own little booklet so you can educate yourself or a loved one about the new bird in your life. The birds are a perfect gift for bird lovers or anyone that's ever seen a bird and wondered what it was.

The sharpest of you may have noticed a bee in the picture above. Don't worry, we know a bee isn't a bird. The RSPB have also released 7 insects with real buzz. The bugzzz come with their own little booklet and a percentage of the profits are also donated to charity. Even sharper viewers may be able to spot a monkey. We have no explanation for this.

Excited? Well, for any collectors out there we also stock the RSPB bird nest, perfect for anyone wanting to show off your new birds. And you know what they say about the early bird... better get yours now!

Pekoppa, another success for Sega Toys.

The Sega Toys Pekoppa is a small electronic plant that nods to voices. It is said to have a 'healing' effect and can act as therapy for the lonely. It is well known that communication works better when the participent reacts to your words!

Sega Toys reported in January that, in just three months, it had sold 50,000 units of the Pekoppa. Pekoppa was developed with the help of a Dr. Tomio Watanabe in Japan and is becoming a valued asset of the Japanese household. The company attributes the success of the plant to the epic loneliness of many Japanese.

Know someone who needs a friend? Do you just want to add a bit of greenery to your modern home, why not adopt your Pekoppa now...

Possible Extinction for Pleo?

For a short time only, Pleo is available at Electronic Pet Shop for just £179.99 with Free UK delivery.
This month UGoBe Inc, the company that produces Pleo, filed for bankruptcy meaning Pleo the Camarasuarus may go the same way that all the other dinosaurs did…

Pleo the dinosaur is one of the most interactive and lifelike robotic pets available. The baby dinosaur has drew many fans since UGoBe was founded in 2003 by Caleb Chung, the creator of Furby. While Furby sold over 50 million units, the £200 price point proved to be a little too high for Pleo.

UGoBe generated around $19.2 million in 2008 but it sharply dropped in the first three months of 2009. The robotic dinosaur ages to have different personalities and can interact with people through their 38 sensors. Pleo barks, shakes and generally responds like a real pet. With over 200 parts, it is by far the most complicated robotic pet currently available for under £200. The lifelike skin and autonomous behaviour makes it one of the first robots to compete with the likes of the Sony Aibo at a fraction of the price.

After floods of press coverage, Pleo was supposed to be released in 2006 but was delayed due to power problems. After delays, it took an extra year for Pleo to be on general distribution.

After a number of departures in UGoBe and suppliers suing the company for money, it filed for Bankruptcy earlier last month. Chung, who owns around 5% of UGoBe, has moved on and taken over as director of a School in Idaho.

What does all this mean for Pleo? Unless a toy supplier takes over the manufacturer of Pleo, it will stop being produced. Thanks to the recession, Pleo the baby dinosaur will be very diffult to get hold of soon.

New WowWee Alive Pets - Press Release

The WowWee Robotics Alive range, released in 2008, capture the technology of Hollywood-Style animatronics and captured our hearts over Christmas selling "over a million worldwide", says Graham Spark, Marketing Director.

The range will be a major focus for the firm this year with an extended line-up
Four new large pets will be available in the Autumn – the WowWee Alive Seal Pup, Husky Puppy, Koala Joey, and Leopard Cub. Each features animated facial and vocal expressions triggered by users' touch and comes with adoption papers and a family portrait. Other products included in the WowWee Alive line are adorable, 8-inch WowWee Alive™ Minis, complete with a feeding bottle the cubs can sense. These WowWee Alive Minis feature touch and tilt sensors triggering soft endearing sounds from snoring to gurgling that indicate the cubs’ various moods.

WowWee has also unveiled a new line of pajama pals, the WowWee Alive™ Sleeping Cuties™ pets. These adorable sleepy pets are perfect to cuddle up with for a nap. Featuring lifelike fur, a poseable head, and their very own blankets, the WowWee Alive Sleeping Cuties pets make gentle slumbering sounds, have animated eyes, and curl up into a cozy, napping position when you pet them. The WowWee Alive Sleeping Cuties pets come in four varieties: Labradoodle Puppy, Beagle Puppy, Cinnamon Persian Kitten, and White Persian Kitten.

The robotic animal sector is currently dominated by Hasbro's FurReal line, but Spark believes WowWee can compete and actually has a superior product. "We feel there is room for a good strong number two," adds Spark. "We're probably more expensive but the quality of the plush is better and there's the whole tactile side to it."

The plan is to link the WowWee Alive brand up with a conservation group. Each animal will donate a percentage of its profits to an endagered animal. A TV campaign will run from August through to November.

Electronic Pet Shop is the only online store in the UK where you can choose from all four Alive Cubs - Lion, White Tiger, Panda and Polar Bear. The high realism of the cubs is what makes them so lovable. Intricate details such as a backbone and blinking eyes make it very easy to believe that you have a real endangered cub in your arms.

Spring is Here.. Finally!

The snow has cleared and all the bad weather seems to have evaporated into blue skies and new seedlings. There's still a little nip in the air but what does it all mean? It means spring is finally here after what feels like a year of gloom.
To celebrate the first day of Spring and the oncoming Easter celebrations Electronic Pet Shop has started an Easter Section of all our Springtime Electronic Pets. Electronic animals are much less fattening than chocolate, so perfect as present for Easter.
Do you know someone who loves plants? Why not get them an Electronic Plant. A hassle free way to make a tribute to greenery; the Flip Flap uses only solar power to move. The flip flap is an attractive plant in various pot colours that requires no water or batteries. Simply sit it on your windowsill and watch it flap merrily away.

If you'd like a more complicated potted plant why not adopt a Pekoppa? Pekoppa is a plant imported from Japan that responds to your voice with silent nods of aggreement. Telling your problems to a plant may seem like madness but can be a theraputic way to get rid of your worries.

RSPB birds are a great way to learn about the different birdcalls. I never knew what a Hoopoe sounded like but now I can instantly tell if I hear one. Hoopoes are very rare in this country though, so it isn't very often! There are loads of different birds to collect and each one comes with information about the bird. You can even buy a nest to hold your birds, perfect for the bird lover.

For a more realistic bird, you can now adopt the Sega Toys Cockatoo or Canary. New in from Japan, the lifelike bird will open its beak and call when you pet its back. The Sega Toys birds are a perfect touch of nature for the modern household.

Electronic Pet Shop has a wide range of FurReal Friends Newborns. The FurReal Friends pets are lifelike animals that respond in various ways when they are stroked. New in are the Springtime Honey Bear, Dalmatian, Piglet, Chipmunk and Chimp. Perfect to keep the kids entertained or for the collector.

Get ready for some fun in Spring! You can even personalise your new animals with a free adoption package that includes a keyring with the owner's and pet's name, factsheet and collectable badge.

Pekoppa the Japanese Healing Plant!

It's a common theory that the household plant loves to listen to you talk. There have been many investigations into the theory and while results have come back saying that it aids in growth.... there is no actual hard evidence. Until now.

The Sega Toys Pekoppa is a potted electronic plant imported from Japan. In today's busy, frustrating and fast-paced society, sometimes we just need someone to lend an ear to us. Plants don't answer back, interrupt or judge you. The Little Healing Pot Plant is always there for you. It'll respond to your voice with lifelike leaf and stem movements as it bends, sways and nods, reacting to your voice. If real plants could move, this is exactly how they'd do it!
Pekoppa was developed with the help of a Dr. Tomio Watanabe in Japan. At first glance, the little pot plant looks real. However inside its stem lurks cutting edge technology in the form of high-tech material. The "muscle wires" become stiff to extend and contract silently when electrical currents are passed through them, creating fluid, lifelike movement.

Pekoppa aids with relaxation, de-stressing, expressing feelings and sharing secrets or worries. Speak to it whenever you want, and it'll respond with a mixture of casual and hearty nods offering agreement, comfort or sympathy depending on your voice tone. The more you talk to it, the more it seems to understand you.

We're not suggesting you should throw away all your household plants yet, but lets face it - when was the last time your Chlorophytum comosum (spider plant) really gave you any feedback on all your hard work? What's more, the Pekoppa makes a great easter gift for the green fingered wannabee!

FurReal Biscuit wins Girls Toy of the Year Award

Experiencing the hype over Christmas it's not much of a surprise that the FurReal Friends Biscuit My Lovin' Pup won the girl's toy of year award. Biscuit, the animatronic dog, was following in hoof-steps of Butterscotch the Pony, which was the TRA's Innovative Toy of the Year for 2006.
We have found that as much as electronics and robotics are exciting for boys, they only need to be converted in plush to be made appealing to girls. The FurReal range is especially appealing to girls at allows them to own dream pets. Butterscotch and Biscuit both have another thing in common - the scale to start creating real excitement.

The brand managers for Girls Toys at Hasbro commented "Hasbro are delighted with the TRA Award for FurReal Biscuit, My Lovin' Pup. The award is a testament to Hasbro's innovative toy development. 2009 will continue to see the brand evolve with the introduction of Zambi The Baby Elephant and Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitty from FurReal."

The FurReal Biscuit Dog will be making a national comeback at Christmas 2009. In the meantime, they can be found in the Dog Pound at Electronic Pet Shop.

Facebank Japanese money box

Every so often, a new pet comes along that is as weird as it is wonderful. Forget Facebook, meet Facebank, the japanese imported moneybox which loves to chew on your loose change.
On first appearence the Face bank may look like what nightmares are made of. A thin latex skin stretched over a number of electronic muscles which moves when it gets a whiff of a coin. The monkey like face on a wall may seem creepy at first, but once you've become accustomed to it it becomes irresistible and is a sure way of helping you save money. You've got to admire how realistic the chewing is and at around 10cm high it makes a perfect companion for your desk top.

Facebank comes in a range of colours and makes for a very unique present for lovers of the bazarre. The Facebank is of course harmless and will not try to attack you when you're asleep. It can be found in the Side Alley at Electronic Pet Shop or Here.

ZAMBI THE BABY ELEPHANT (Ages 4 years & up/Approx. Retail Price: $49.99/Available Fall 09) features soft and cuddly ears and feet that are covered in a special fabric pattern designed by boys and girls from Zambia in one of the communities dedicated to caring for children orphaned by AIDS. Like the other animals in the FURREAL FRIENDS line of “come to life” plush pets, when you play with ZAMBI THE BABY ELEPHANT, he will play, blow kisses, raise his trunk, and trumpet his elephant call. He’ll also have a sensor on his trunk, so he can hold onto your finger and “shake” your hand.

Hasbro has committed to donate a minimum of $500,000 (in U.S. dollars) to the PROJECT ZAMBI Fund, part of the Hasbro Children’s Fund, in 2009. This fund will benefit programs that help make life better for children orphaned by AIDS in Africa. The company hopes to expand this global campaign to include additional Hasbro products and brands in the years to come.

Hasbro employees developed the PROJECT ZAMBI concept after being inspired by the Chikumbuso Women’s and Orphans’ Project in Zambia. For a number of years the Hasbro Children’s Fund has supported programs in Zambia that assist children in need.

WowWee Alive Animals

In 2008 WowWee Robotics released 'Alive pets,' a new range of electronic animals. There are four Alive pets in the range; a Lion, Polar Bear, Panda and White Tiger.

The WowWee Alive pets are quite similar to the FurReal Luv Cubs and Jungle Cats but are more interactive and highly realistic. The pets all make different sounds and respond to motion and touch.
You can't ignore the similarities between the two ranges. Even the tag lines 'If it's not FurReal, it's not For Real' and 'So Real it's Unreal' seem to hold a clear resemblence. The WowWee animals are slightly more expensive than the equivilant FurReal Friends but well worth the extra. They retail at £49.99 but will undoubtably go up in price when the range gets discontinued. Hopefully the new competition for Hasbro will encourage new ranges of realistic pets with more features.

The Alive Panda and White Tiger were Exclusives but have now been released for general distribution. Electronic Pet Shop are currently the only place where you can choose from all four Alive Pets. To celebrate, for a short time we have reduced the price of the WowWee Lion and Polar Bear to £39.99. As always, this will include a free adoption package if you select the details.

New Teksta Robotic Pets!

Electronic Pet Shop now stocks Teksta Newborn Monkey! Teksta Newborn Monkey is the latest in the Teksta line and is available at the same price as the Teksta Newborn Dalmatian.

The Teksta Newborns come in at £24.99 which is quite a difference from the Teksta Playful Pup. The newborns are perfect for a younger child who wants a Teksta but probably lacks the attention needed for the larger dog.

Unlike the playful pup, the newborns only move in one direction and cannot avoid objects. However, do not let this put you off. The newborns have most of the same features as the larger Teksta including the ability to 'sense' your hand when it is near. In a similar way to the playful pup, it can also be controlled with the included remote control.

Children will also appreciate the mood changes of the monkey. Most of all, the newborn is perfect for someone who loves robots but doesn't want a dog. If only it was legal to keep a real monkey...

New FurReal Friends for 2009

The Hasbro stand at the Toy Fair in London showed a range of new FurReal pets. Fans will be pleased to hear that limited supplies of the FurReal kittens should be making a comeback sometime this year along with the Cuddle Chimp.
For Christmas 2009 we see the introduction of Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitten, Zambi the Elephant and the Newborn Black and White Guinea Pig.

Hasbro claim that Lulu will be more interactive than the White Cat but unfortunately will not sit up. Instead, Lulu will be able to roll over to let you pet her tummy and will take time out to lick herself. It's nice that the makers took the time to think about hygiene.

Zambi the Elephant will also be making an appearance Christmas 2009. While the demonstration Elephant was not fully working it was able to raise its trunk. When its trunk is stroked Zambi is able to grasp your finger with its trunk and give you a kiss. Zambi is one of the medium sized FurReal Friends and comes in at a retail price of £39.99. Hasbro will be donating 50% of all profits from the elephant, a minimum of $500,000, to a charity in Zambia. 'World Vision' is a charity that benefits children who have lost parents to aids. More about Hasbro children's fund can be found here.
The elephant is being sold for a really good cause and it will be interesting to see how popular the elephant is as one of the only non-household pets available from the range.

The FurReal Newborn range increases in size this year but as always, is a little unpredictable. In spring and summer the sets are said to include a marmalade kitten, chocolate labrador, dalmatian, lamb, piglet, chipmunk, panda and chimp. In Autumn and Winter the range will also include Beagle Pup, Calico Kitten, Honey Bear and Polar Bear. The much loved FurReal Guinea Pig released in the early millenium also sees a comeback in the later part of this year in a new colour.

Unfortunately, due to issues in the far east the FurReal Range will see an increase in prices in 2009. As always, we will attempt to keep the pets reasonably priced so they are affordable to all of our customers.

FurReal White Cat - Back in Stock!

Electronic Pet Shop have come accross a limited supply of FurReal white cats!
Those that are familiar with the FurReal range will no doubt know the playful cat very well. It is one of the most popular electronic pets in the range and has been shown to make especially good company for the elderly and young children. With 5 sensors, including movement detection, the cat looks and sounds extremely realistic.

When it was first released, the Sega cat was available at an RRP of around $200 in Japan. After being released in the US and UK the cat went to a much more reasonable price of £49.99. However, the FurReal cat was discontinued in 2006 and has been much sought after ever since, reaching prices of up to £100 on auction websites.
FurReal White CatThe FurReal cat can currenly be purchased from Electronic Pet Shop for £49.99.
